Polygon has created a toolkit for developing and running Ethereum Layer2 networks based on ZK zero-disclosure proofs.

According to a press release, the Chain Development Kit (CDK) is an open source database. The new solution allows to create custom Layer2 chains based on Polygon ZK technology. These chains will be connected to each other by a common ZK chain. Together they will form what Polygon calls the “Value Layer”.

Recall that in 2021, Polygon attracted attention with its PoS network, which many crypto market experts recognised as a promising way to scale Ethereum. Since then, blockchain developers have moved on to promote a more tightly coupled type of Layer2 network known as “rollups.” Polygon has adapted to this trend, launched its own update package, and implemented zero-knowledge cryptography as a core element of its technology roadmap.

Polygon also has a suite of “Supernets” tools for developers to create customisable chains for specific applications. Meanwhile, company officials said they are betting that CDK will be the next stage of evolution.
