Polygon is considering ways to implement Zero Knowledge technology as the main cryptographic solution in its main chain. These efforts of the company are in addition to Polygon’s current and previously disclosed plans for the release of “ZK rollup” – a type of scalable layer-2 system that aims to increase the speed of blockchain transactions and reduce their cost.

Mihailo Bjelic focuses on research work and emphasizes the importance of using ZK technology for the Polygon project development roadmap. According to Bjelic, a number of improvements based on ZK can eventually be made to the proof-of-stake Polygon main chain as the main way to increase the security of transactions in the Ethereum sidechain. Thus, at this stage of development, the company is experimenting with upgrading the Polygon POS-chain in order to include zkEVM in it.

Recall that over the past few years Polygon has successfully attracted large corporate partners, attracting them with fast and cheap transactions and high-quality marketing. In May 2022, Meta Platforms announced that it would support Polygon’s interchangeable NFT tokens on Instagram, and then investment giant Hamilton Lane opened the first of three tokenized funds on Polygon.

The native MATIC token from Polygon last year lost about 70% in price synchronously with the fall of the entire crypto market. However, already in 2023, the coin played back the fall and returned to its former value indicators.
