Anchorage Digital is the only crypto bank registered with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Previous attempts to obtain registration by several companies, including Paxos and Protego, have been unsuccessful. These companies were unable to overcome the timing hurdles associated with the charter.
In a statement on Thursday, Anchorage Digital announced that the expansion of its board of directors was part of its efforts to meet the growing institutional demand for secure, reliable, and federally regulated digital asset infrastructure.
Anchorage Digital co-founder and CEO Nathan McCauley emphasized that Shoemaker’s track record in the traditional finance (trad-fi) world would be invaluable.
