The Optimism Foundation proposed an update of the protocol in February of this year. This update will be the largest previously released on the OP network.

The update is designed to provide a new level of modularity, simplicity and equivalence of Ethereum for the L2 network, which will have a positive impact on performance and security.

According to the analytical company Messari, 99.87% of Optimism users approved the update. Bedrock implements a modular architecture that will divide the OP stack into execution and calculation components, as well as consensus. This solution will allow converting execution clients from Ethereum to Optimism clients. The upgrade will improve the safety and stability of the bridge with the main network.

The Bedrock upgrade is a significant step on the way to Superchain. Thanks to him, Optimism will be able to create more new networks based on OP.

According to the analytical website L2Beat, competition for market share as the best solution for scaling Ethereum is growing. The leader in this list is Arbitrum, followed by Optimism. Over the past few months, the project has achieved great success. The Optimism OP token grew by 77% in 2023, while the growth of ETH was 52%.
